A New Trump Era Begins as Congress Prepares to Certify Election Victory on Jan. 6 Anniversary.

WASHINGTON – Four years after a violent mob stormed the U.S. Capitol in a failed attempt to overturn the 2020 election results, Congress is set to officially certify Donald Trump’s return to the presidency on Monday.

Unlike the chaos of January 6, 2021, when rioters breached security, clashed with police, and forced lawmakers into hiding, this year’s proceedings are expected to unfold without incident. Lawmakers will gather to count the electoral votes from each state and formally confirm Trump’s victory in the 2024 election.

There will be no angry crowds, no shattered windows, and no attempts to disrupt the democratic process. This time, the day is expected to be calm, procedural, and free of political drama.

“I think it will almost be a nonevent,” said Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., reflecting the subdued expectations for the day.
